Website uploaded via FTP/Visual Studio 500 - Internal server error

I've uploaded a new website built in VS2017 to GoDaddy using FTP. Site uploaded OK, but now getting "500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."

I have edited web.config file - under "httpdocs" folder - with every suggestion I have found, including:

<customErrors mode="Off"/>
<compilation debug="true"/>
<trust level="Full"/>

<httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough"/>
<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false"/>
<asp scriptErrorSentToBrowser="true"/>

and removing the section under <system.codedom>

I have recycled the IIS application pool.

I have cleared cache.

I cannot get this working - any suggestions?

Replying to myself in case it helps anyone else.

I went to ASP.NET Configuration and restored the default settings.

Then I set Custom error mode to Off.

Now I get a detailed error!
