I adopted the role of managing my kids school's simple website. It has been hosted via Wordpress.com for several years. The website dropped a few weeks ago, and we come to find out that the site has actually been hosted on a GoDaddy account that had been prepaid, but is now lapsed and the person who set it up is no longer part of the picture. We got that resolved, but I am trying to figure out why we would need to host anything on a GoDaddy hosting site? This is 100% a Wordpress.com site, so why add another layer of crap and expense to host it via GoDaddy?
This is not a high volume site at all. Can I rid the goddady hosting?
Advice or suggestions welcome.
Hey there @NeedAdvicce,
That doesn't make a lot of sense. If the hosting was on GoDaddy and the site went down when the hosting lapsed, that means it's not on WordPress.com. It sounds as if it was a self-hosted WordPress site.
