    Move old domain and 301 redirects to GoDaddy

    Hello all, looking for some info and help.

    I have a managed Wordpress account here at GoDaddy. Currently, I have an old domain name and hosting at a different registrar/host, and it is now 301 re-directing to the new domain at GoDaddy using an .htaccess file.

    I would like to move the old domain and its redirect to GoDaddy so I can cancel the expensive hosting associated with the old domain name.

    Is it possible to perform the redirect at the registrar level if I transfer the domain to GoDaddy, whilst keeping the nature of the redirect (e.g. olddomain[.]com/path1/path2 --> newdomain[.]net/path1/path2)? Or is it only going to be bulk level redirects to just newdomain[.]net homepage?

    At olddomain[.]com the .htaccess file only really consists of this and some old Wordpress stuff:

    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^newdomain\.net [NC]
    RewriteRule (.*) http://newdomain.net/$1 [R=301,L]

    @Peem

    You can forward the old domain to the new and then pretty much setup the new .htaccess to fit your needs.   Here's a page I have bookmarked that shows all the Common .htaccess Redirects.

    HTH! 😉
