Switching A Record for CName causing Error

Hi,

I am attempting to switch the www record from an A record pointing to an IP address to a CNAME pointing to a cloudfront distribution. I have deleted the A record so the site is now down and when trying to configure the CNAME it is coming up with an error:

There was an error processing your request. Please try again. If this issue continues, contact support.

Its been around 20mins of downtime now, is this to be expected or does it need support intervention?

Thanks

Hi @ascorer,

Welcome to the Community!

It's not clear where/how you are trying to direct the domain to its destination. A CName generally references the A record for the required server. For example, the A record would direct to the IP address of the server, and the "www" CName would simply reference "@" (the base domain).

It may help our users to provide advice, if you could include your domain name and the purpose of using the CName in the way you describe.
