Trouble installing SSL Certificate on IIS 8n - Windows 2012

Bought certification, downloaded on Windows 2012 server, and then followed https://uk.godaddy.com/help/iis-8-install-a-certificate-4951

It appears to install OK.  Then when I go to the website bindings, I cannot see the certificate and when I go back to the IIS certificates screen for the server, the certificate is then no longer listed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mark.

We are having the same issue. No warnings or erros. Restart server or switch to a different window in IIS and cert disappears. Of course Godaddy pitches more sales support from them is useless. Took over 2 months to solve an issue with another client, yet kept saying "hello world" script had malicious code so we needed to have the site reviewed by third party.....

Re: Trouble installing SSL Certificate on IIS 8n - Windows 2012

We are also having this same issue with GoDaddy certificates disappearing in IIS8. This is unacceptable as this does not happen with certs from other vendors. We need help here, GO DADDY.

I wish I would have found this thread earlier, now I'm stuck with everyone else and no legitimate support from GoDaddy...

Same here cert installs fine, no warnings or errors, and the cert displays in the Server Certificates list in IIS. Switch to bindings and no cert shows in the select menu. Switch back to Server Certificates list in IIS and the cert is gone.

Has anyone figured this out yet?  We having the exact same issue with the cert installing fine but not listed when we go to bind.

Re: Trouble installing SSL Certificate on IIS 8n - Windows 2012

Folks;

It sounds like you're missing the Certificate Request piece in IIS Manager.

You'll need to create a Certificate Request (https://ca.godaddy.com/help/iis-8windows-server-2012-generate-csrs-certificate-signing-requests-4950), and use the generated file to re-key your existing current SSL certificate (https://ca.godaddy.com/help/rekey-certificate-4976) in order for it to be recognized by your server.

After the re-keyed certificate is issued, follow the install instructions (https://ca.godaddy.com/help/iis-8-install-a-certificate-4951) and you should be good to go.  It worked for me today when I ran into this issue.

Thank you mcbundus! Your solution worked for me. GoDaddy has to change their instructions for IIS 8 because looks like the Certificate has to be Requested from the IIS server. Was getting frustrated but really appreciate you putting this up so we don't have to fork out for GoDaddy paid support. Wonder if they deliberately left that step out so they can get paid more.

Re: Trouble installing SSL Certificate on IIS 8n - Windows 2012

I have see the disappearing certificate problem more than once and decided to really dig into it. I found the problem is caused by installing the website cert using the Cert MMC when I was trying to install just the Intermediate Certs. The fix is to remove, rekey, re-add and I documented the process including screen shots here.

I hope this helps.
