Wordpress - Restricted to half the page with adding modules

Hi all,

So I've added a new page from my Dashboard. However when I go to customize the page, I cannot add my columns to the full page. Rather I am limited to a grey box on half the page.  I've attached photos. Please help.

I cannot extend the grey dotted box to the full page.
