My wordpress site has been down for a few days and I'm not even able to access the dashboard.
I think it might be related to some updates I did on my site last Wednesday. After I clicked update for the plugins, my site redirected to a page with a parked 'maintenance' message. Soon after that, the site was down all together.
I've gone into FTP and deleted any plugins from that day and have renamed the plugins folder, but nothing is loading. Any suggestions before I delete the template and try to rebuild the site?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You don't have to delete anything -- by FTPing in and just renaming folders would suffice like y you did with your plugins folder. Do the same with your specific theme folder
If doing that gets you it could be your theme is causing a conflict.
If that doesn't work, have you checked to see if your site has been compromised? You can run a scan here.
Thanks, Muse. I tried renaming my theme folder but no luck there.
I scanned the site and it came back with errors attached in the screenshot. I don't know enough to understand if this is a true issue or just an error because my site is down.
Hmm, wonder why.
Well, these are the details that scan provided:
Site error detected. Details: http://labs.sucuri.net/db/malware/500-error.php?warning.500_internal_error.1 HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
Two things you could try....
=> Contacting GoDaddy since it is a server error and asking them to help determine why the server is coughing that up.
=> Try a manual reinstall of WordPress. Pretty easy to do and would make sure none of the WordPress files are infected.
The manual Wordpress re-install worked and I'm back up and running! You're awesome!
Thank you for the link and the advice. Have a great day!
