Data Center = Europe, but IP = USA

Howdy folks,

I have a client on Premium Hosting, Linux with cPanel.

The Data Center is set to Europe, but the (shared) IP Address resolves to the USA.

As the client is in Germany, and German data Protection laws are rather draconian, it is necessary for us to prove beyond any doubt where the site's content is actually located.

Could anyone clarify? Is the site in the USA, Europe?

It's possible that the geolocation entry for the IP address is wrong, it's based on a database that has to be kept up to date.

Best way to know for sure is to look at the server name. Add /cpanel to the end of your client's URL, and look at the URL for client's login page. If the server name starts with n3 then you know for sure it's in Europe.
