Troubleshoot missing email after moving to Microsoft 365

After you transition from Workspace Email to Microsoft 365, check that your messages moved correctly. The transition can only move messages that are stored on the Workspace Email servers into Microsoft 365. This means if you store messages in your local email client, you might see some messages missing in your Exchange account with Microsoft 365.

Before continuing, check if you have a folder called In-Place Archive in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook on the web. If you do, then you can access your legacy Workspace Email content and don't need to follow the steps below.

Warning: You can only complete the following steps within 14 days of the transition completing. Afterwards, you won't be able to access the Workspace Email servers.

I check my email in a client

If you use an email client (like Outlook for Windows or Mail for Mac), check that you're receiving mail in Outlook on the web.

  1. Sign in to Outlook on the web. Use your Microsoft 365 email address and password (they're the same as your Workspace Email account).
  2. Check if your folders are listed in the left column and you see your messages.
    • If you see your folders/messages in Outlook on the web, but they're missing in your client, subscribe to your folders. Here are steps to subscribe to folders from Microsoft.
    • If folders/messages are missing in Outlook on the web, but you see them in your client, make backups and import them to your Exchange account.
    • If folders/messages are missing in both Outlook on the web and your client, or you're not receiving mail, contact our GoDaddy Guides for help.

I check my email in Workspace Webmail

If you use Workspace Webmail, after your transition, you can see your new Microsoft 365 webmail. Compare Outlook on the web and Workspace Webmail to confirm you're receiving mail.

  1. Sign in to Outlook on the web. Use your Microsoft 365 email address and password (they're the same as your Workspace Email account).
  2. In another window or tab, sign in to Workspace Webmail. Use your Microsoft 365 email address and password again.
  3. Compare your folders and their messages in Workspace Webmail and Outlook on the web.
    • If folders/messages are missing in Outlook on the web, but you see them in Workspace Webmail, open your Deleted Items folder and select Recover items deleted from this folder. Select the messages, and then select Restore to return them to their default location in Outlook on the web.
    • If folders/messages are missing in both Outlook on the web and Workspace Webmail, you don't see messages in your Deleted Items folder, or you're not receiving mail, contact our GoDaddy Guides for help.
